Shenandoah Valley Theatre Collective provides faith-rooted theatre training for students in grades 4–12, helping young people grow in confidence, creativity, discipline, and community through the joy of live theatre.
For Families Who Want More Than Just Another Activity
For many families (esp. homeschool families), finding meaningful opportunities for your child can be hard.
Sure, you want it to be fun; but you also want something that builds confidence, teaches discipline, encourages teamwork, and surrounds your child with people who care about who they are becoming.
For many families in the Shenandoah Valley, high-quality theatre training can feel hard to access, too expensive, too competitive, or simply not designed with your family’s values in mind.
SVTC was created to help change that.
Theatre Can Be a Place of Belonging
At SVTC, students are invited into a rehearsal room where they are seen, challenged, encouraged, and expected to grow.
We believe theatre is one of the most powerful tools for helping young people discover their voice. On stage and off, students learn how to listen, collaborate, take creative risks, handle responsibility, and support the people around them.
The goal is not simply to produce a great show.
The goal is to help build young people who are brave, kind, prepared, expressive, and rooted.

Who We Are
Shenandoah Valley Theatre Collective is a faith-rooted theatre education and performance organization serving families in Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, and the surrounding Shenandoah Valley.

Students learn theatre by doing the work: speaking clearly, listening well, taking direction, making bold choices, and serving the story.
The best theatre is always created by a family. At SVTC, students, parents, volunteers, and leaders bring their gifts and build the work together.
Our Christian faith shapes how we teach, rehearse, lead, correct, encourage, serve, and care for one another.
Students practice courage for life beyond the stage: using their voice, working with others, taking responsibility, and stepping up when it matters.
More Than a Stage
Theatre has a way of drawing students out.
A quiet student finds the courage to speak. A nervous student learns to stand tall in spite of his nerves. A student who feels on the outside looking in finds their people: a place to belong, laugh, create, and be known.
At SVTC, those moments begin in rehearsal and grow into something bigger. Students start using their voices with more confidence. They learn to look out for one another. They make friends while building something together, and by the time the curtain closes, they carry more than a performance with them.
Ways to Begin
Every student starts somewhere.
Some are ready for a full production. Some need focused coaching. Some want a short-term summer experience where they can make friends, build confidence, and try theatre in a welcoming room.

Audition-to-performance experiences where students learn to serve the story, work as an ensemble, take direction, and bring a character to life.
Individualized coaching for students ready for focused growth in acting, auditions, monologues, vocal performance, confidence, and stage presence.
Short-term theatre experiences where students can jump in, make friends, build confidence, and discover the joy of creating something together.

Led With Care
SVTC is led by people who believe students are worth knowing, not just casting.
We care about the work on stage, but we care even more about the student standing there. That means clear expectations, thoughtful coaching, respectful correction, and a rehearsal room where students can grow without being humiliated or overlooked.
Families trust us with their children, their time, and their resources. We take that very seriously.
Our goal is to build theatre students can be proud of and a community families are glad to be part of.
A Place to Grow

Step Out of the Wings and Onto the Stage

Our next planned opportunity is a spring production, and we are gathering interest from families now.
The interest form is short, and filling it out does not commit you to participate.
It simply helps us understand who may be interested, what ages we are serving, and how to shape the production well.
